RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Q. What is your role at Quartile One?
I work in the Asset Performance Centre (APC) team assisting in a number of different areas:

  • Maintenance planning

  • Data and business analytics

  • Technical support to the team (engineering, IT and systems)

But my main role at the moment is in the implementation and upkeep of a new maintenance system (AMT) for our main heavy mining equipment customer. AMT is Asset Maintenance Software developed by RPMGlobal and the only in-shift maintenance solution that dynamically links lifecycle costing to strategy to provide an accurate lifecycle position.

Q. What are your qualifications?
I studied a double degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Bachelor of Economics at the University of Adelaide and have followed this up with a Graduate Diploma of Maintenance Management from CQ University.

Q. When did you start at Quartile One?
I started in November 2017.

Q. Why did you join the company?
After spending 9 years working on site for large companies, I was looking for something different where I could make an impact and not be “just a number”. I had heard about Red Button Group (now Quartile One) through an old colleague of mine.

Q. What type of businesses do you work for?
My experience has been working in various maintenance related roles at a site level (planner, scheduler, shift supervisor, superintendent) across different types of machinery in different industries: mining, petrochem and light industrial. I am comfortable working with light and heavy industrial equipment and fixed plant, both on or off site.

Q. What has been your favourite project to date and why?
My current role in the implementation of AMT as a new maintenance system for our largest mining equipment customer has been my favourite project so far. It is not something I have done previously but I have been interested in maintenance systems for a long time.

Q. What would you say are some of your key achievements so far?

The key achievements I am most proud of are:

  • Leading the development of our Excel based planning tool which was a key part of the planner hub prior to the rollout of AMT

  • Successful implementation and rollout of the first phase of AMT

Q. What do you find the most rewarding in your role at Quartile One?
When I first started at the company, the planner hub was only starting out. It has been very rewarding being heavily involved from establishing it and seeing it come from nothing to a team of 9, currently planning major component maintenance for around 700 pieces of equipment nationally.

Q. What is a surprising or random fact about you?
I have been playing guitar for 17+ years, was in a death metal band for 8 years, released 2 albums and played dozens of gigs.

Q. Do you have a favourite quote to live by?
First we eat, then we do everything else.
