I started in April 2017 when it was still the Red Button Group.
Q. Why did you join the company?
I was looking for a new opportunity within a small company outside geology, where I could offer my broad skill set of digesting large ambiguous data sets, building models while developing and maintain lasting relationships with stakeholders and clients at all levels of the organisation.
I was referred to then Red Button while in another job interview. My interviewer at the time informed me of the exciting opportunities taking place at Red Button, where he thought I would be more interested in and better suited for. I instantly reached out to Rob and the rest is history.
Q. What type of businesses do you work for?
I have +8 years’ experience working my way up through multi-disciplinary mining, construction and geotechnical engineering roles in various parts of Australia, London and Canada.
Q. What has been your favourite project to date and why?
My most recent project with a key client, the second-largest mining company in the world. With the support of the Decision Support Team I project managed, evaluated and identified optimal underground mobile equipment options for their South Australian mine. I got to learn from a very diverse and forthcoming group of intellects. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to lead the project from the get go. When I look back over the past 10 weeks - I’ve learnt so much about time management, project planning, project execution as well as learning about new and upcoming underground technologies and systems. I also had the privilege to go underground again to see how one of the world’s largest underground mines operate.
Q. What do you find the most rewarding in your role at Quartile One?
The most rewarding part of my role is the learning environment I work in. I’m constantly improving my skill, to give me greater success in future projects. I also typically work on 5 to 10 week turnaround projects, which expect quick delivery but come with constant reward.
Q. What would you say are some of your key achievements so far?
My Top 3 are:
My trip to Ivory Coast (West Africa) – for a large gold mine
Project Managing the Fleet Selection Project (as above), where I helped identify a value case of $260M
